Question 1

Pressure treated vs cedar wood?

Accepted Answer

Both options build the same bed — 24 inches tall, 4×4 corner posts, and two stacked boards on every wall. What changes is the wood itself, and what you're paying for.

• Pressure treated (Standard, $35/sq ft): pine that has been treated to resist rot, insects and moisture. It is the toughest dollar-for-dollar option and the most common pick for vegetable gardens. It arrives with a slight green tint and weathers to a soft silvery grey over time.
• Knotty cedar (Premium, $45/sq ft): naturally rot-resistant with no chemical treatment, and lighter in weight. The warm colour and knots give a finished, traditional garden look from day one, and it takes stain and paint well. Cedar is softer than treated pine, so it can dent more easily and will also grey slowly if it isn't sealed.

Neither choice is wrong — pressure treated is the value and durability pick, cedar is the look and natural-material pick. Either way, sealing or staining the wood every few years adds years of life to the bed.

Question 2

What is our warranty?

Accepted Answer

Every structure installed by Grid & Grow is covered for one year for defects in manufacturing and workmanship. If a piece is missing or broken, simply call us at 647-922-0464 within 30 days of installation.

• Proper base: your unit must be placed on a correct and stable base to avoid unnecessary wear and damage. The responsibility for setting up a suitable base lies with the purchaser.
• Proper maintenance: regular maintenance is essential. This includes re-painting or re-staining and keeping the perimeter and underside free from vegetation and debris, plus re-attaching loose hardware or nails that have popped out and re-tightening screws which have come loose.
• No relocation or alteration: moving the garden bed from its original location or significantly altering the structure may void the warranty.
• Exclusions: damage due to acts of nature, including tornadoes, hail storms, fires and more, is not covered by this warranty.
• Original purchaser: this warranty applies exclusively to the original purchaser of the product.
• No indirect or consequential damages: we will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, nor for failures caused by events, acts or omissions beyond our control, such as misuse or improper maintenance.

Question 4

Accepted Answer

Installation times vary depending on the size of your bed and the number of add-ons you've chosen. We do aim to keep all installations under 3 hours.

We confirm every order by phone and schedule the install with you, so you'll know what to expect before we arrive.

Question 5

How do I prep my garden bed site?

Accepted Answer

A little prep beforehand keeps install day quick and gets your bed sitting properly. Here's what we need from you:

• Choose the spot: somewhere level with at least 6 hours of sun for most vegetables, and enough room around the bed to walk and reach every side.
• Clear it: mow the grass short and remove the sod, weeds, stones and debris from the footprint. Grass left underneath will keep growing up into the bed.
• Level it: knock down high spots and fill low ones so the frame sits flat. A level base stops the bed from racking and keeps soil from washing to one side.
• Check access: make sure we can get from the street to the site — gates, side yards and steps all count. Please move furniture, toys, hoses and pet bowls out of the way beforehand.
• Know what's underground: if you have irrigation lines, a septic field or cable running through the area, tell us before we start.
• Keep a hose handy: we'll need water for cleanup and to settle the soil.

If any of this isn't possible for you, mention it when you order and we'll talk through the options.
